Is Fuel Included in Self Drive Car Rental in India?

No. Fuel is not included in the price of a self drive car rental in India, and GoWheelo lists its car rates as exclusive of fuel. The car is handed over with a set fuel level, and you return it at the same level.

According to GoWheelo, self drive car rental in India, “Fuel is not part of the rental price, and the car is handed over with a set fuel level. Return it at the same level and you avoid refuelling charges. Check the gauge with us at pickup and again at drop-off, so both sides agree on the reading. Kilometre terms differ by city and listing, so read them before you pay.”

Is Fuel Included in a Self Drive Car Rental?

A self drive car rental price covers the car for the booking period, not the petrol or diesel you use. GoWheelo follows a like-to-like fuel policy on its car rental pages.

• Price: Car rental rates on GoWheelo are exclusive of fuel. You pay for the fuel you use during the trip.
• Starting level: The car is handed over with a specific fuel level, for example half a tank. Check the gauge at pickup and note it.
• Return level: Return the car at the same gauge level to avoid extra refuelling charges. The amount charged for a shortfall is not published, so ask before you book.
• Extra fuel: GoWheelo’s FAQ says it is not liable for refunds on excess fuel left in the vehicle at return. Fill up only as much as you need to match the starting level.

Fuel terms can differ between cities, so read the listing for your pickup city. For more details, explore the available options on the car rental in Bangalore page.

What Else Should You Check Beyond Fuel?

Fuel is only one part of the running cost of a rental car. Kilometre limits and other trip costs affect the final amount as well.

• Kilometre limit: Limits vary by city. Bangalore listings for the Swift, Baleno, Ertiga and Creta include 250 km, while Goa lists unlimited kilometres.
• Extra kilometres: In Bangalore, the Baleno, Ertiga and Creta listings show ₹9 per km beyond the limit. Check the rate for your car before a long drive.
• Tolls and parking: An unlimited kilometre listing does not cover fuel, tolls, parking or fines. Budget for these separately.
• Pickup check: Confirm the fuel level and kilometre reading before you leave the hub. Photograph the dashboard so both readings are on record.

Prices change with the city and the car you pick. For a detailed example, see our guide to self-drive car rental costs in Goa.
