Frequently Asked Questions
To rent a car with GoWheelo in Pondicherry, you must hold a valid Driving License (Learner’s licenses are not accepted). At pickup, you are required to submit any one original government-issued ID (Aadhar Card, Voter ID, or physical DL). This original document will be securely held at our hub and returned to you immediately upon the safe return of the car.
Yes! Our self-drive cars are perfect for trips to Auroville, Paradise Beach, and Mahabalipuram. Since Auroville and the road to Chennai (ECR) involve crossing into Tamil Nadu, please ensure you carry the vehicle documents provided by GoWheelo. For longer trips to Chennai or Thanjavur, please inform our hub manager to ensure all inter-state permit requirements are explained.
GoWheelo guarantees a transparent and fast refund process. After you drop off the car at our Pondicherry hub, our team performs a quick check for new traffic challans or damages. Your fully refundable security deposit is then initiated and returned to your account within 24 to 48 hours.
No! We offer Unlimited Kilometer packages for all our self-drive cars in Pondicherry. This allows you the freedom to drive from the French Quarter to the distant backwaters of Chunnambar or the ECR cafes without ever worrying about extra per-kilometer charges at the end of your trip.
White Town has very narrow streets and strict "No Parking" zones. During weekends and holidays, the Beach Promenade area is often declared a "No Vehicle Zone." We recommend parking at designated paid parking lots near the Old Bus Stand or the Municipality Parking to avoid your rental car being towed or fined by the Pondicherry Police.
No, our competitive Pondicherry car rental rates are exclusive of fuel. We follow a "Like-to-Like" policy: the car is handed over with a specific fuel gauge level, and you simply return it with the exact same level. This ensures you only pay for the fuel you actually consume during your holiday.
We understand that traffic on the East Coast Road (ECR) or near the Anna Statue can be slow during peak hours. We provide a 30-minute grace period for all returns. Beyond that, late fees are charged on an hourly basis. To avoid penalties, we recommend extending your booking via the GoWheelo app at least two hours before your scheduled drop-off.
Yes! GoWheelo offers a diverse fleet in Pondicherry. We have easy-to-drive Automatic hatchbacks for navigating the narrow lanes of the Heritage Town, as well as spacious 7-seater SUVs (like the Ertiga or Innova) for large families or groups heading to the beaches or Auroville.
Our pickup hubs are strategically located for your convenience. You can pick up your self-drive car near the Pondicherry Railway Station, the PRTC New Bus Stand, or in the heart of the Heritage Town (Mission Street area). We also offer delivery services to major hotels and resorts along the ECR for a hassle-free experience.
