What documents are required for a self-drive car rental in Mumbai?

To rent a self-drive car with GoWheelo in Mumbai, you must hold a valid Driving License (Learner’s licenses are not accepted). At pickup, you must submit any one original government ID (Aadhar Card, Voter ID, or physical DL). This original ID is securely held at our hub and returned to you immediately upon the safe return of the car.

Are self-drive cars allowed on the Bandra-Worli Sea Link and Eastern Freeway?

Yes! Unlike two-wheelers, our self-drive rental cars are fully permitted on the Bandra-Worli Sea Link and the Eastern Freeway. These routes are the fastest way to travel between South Mumbai, the Airport, and the Suburbs. Please note that toll charges (FASTag) are the responsibility of the renter and will be settled at the end of the trip.

How long does it take to get the car security deposit refunded in Mumbai?

While you can explore all of Maharashtra, please note that crossing state borders (into Gujarat or Karnataka) is prohibited. Any inter-state permit requirements or border taxes for such trips are not included in the rental.

Does the car rental price include fuel?

No, our competitive Mumbai car rental rates are exclusive of fuel. We follow a simple "Like-to-Like" policy: the car is handed over with a specific fuel level, and you simply return it with the exact same gauge level. This gives you the freedom to refuel at any of the major petrol pumps across Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.

Is there a daily kilometer limit for car rentals in Mumbai?

We offer flexible packages to suit your needs. Most of our Mumbai car rental plans come with a generous total kilometer allowance based on your total booking duration, rather than a strict daily cap. This allows you to use your kilometers flexibly for city chores or long-distance weekend trips. Any excess distance is charged at a flat per-km rate.

What happens if I return the car late due to traffic at the Dahisar or Vashi Toll?

We understand that traffic at the Dahisar, Vashi, or Mulund entry points can be unpredictable. We provide a 30-minute grace period for all returns. Beyond this, late fees are charged on an hourly basis. To avoid penalties, we recommend extending your booking via the GoWheelo app at least two hours before your scheduled end time.

Do you provide 7-seater SUVs and Automatic cars for Mumbai traffic?

Yes! Our Mumbai fleet includes fuel-efficient hatchbacks for navigating crowded areas like Dadar and Crawford Market, as well as premium 7-seater SUVs (like the Ertiga or XUV700) for family outings.
